Véronique
Marchal is a painter and graphic
designer.
She was born in 1967 in Valence.
She has studied applied and visual
arts as well as photography.
She has been living in Aquitaine since 2002.
Her work brings to the
surface the feelings of childhood, the transparency of emotions,
movements and
desires.
Véronique uses acrylic resins and pigments on fabrics.
Transparency
enhances the feeling of matter which is half erased by a
sponge, then
built
anew.
What matters is making connections between colours.
From the very
beginning one looks in vain for a hint of realism here – there is no
subject,
as it would lead the artist away from what she has set out to express.
Véronique says that for a long time she believed that her
inspiration came from
nature.
But while the feeling of peace which it brings is invaluable it is
above all the inner vision, the abandonment of oneself and of the
control of
one’s choices that create the picture.
The feeling takes visual form in a
parallel hypersensitive world where colour is both hot and frozen,
where
aggressiveness and tenderness are one.
In this universe the burning flame of
the stripped down feature is transformed into a new shape.
It becomes a
scratch, a trace, a voluptuous expression where only one’s breath links
it to
life.
